A good game in tough conditions, a heavy sloping pitch with a strong wind blowing down it. We lost the toss which meant we would be kicking uphill and into the wind for two periods of 20 minutes. As usual we started off slowly struggliing to get to grip with the conditions. We slowly got more and more into our stride, defending stronly as a unit and when required individually. Overall in the first 20 minutes we had more of the play and created the better chances playing some good football. The second period saw us kicking down the hill with the wind in our backs. We completely dominated from the first whistle, closing down, harrying them into mistakes. Four minutes in and they've gifted us a corner, Ben U siwngs the ball in from the left and it's met with a rasping header from Ben W which nearly busts the net 1-0 Bring it on. We positioned ourselves in their half, playing good football but struggling to create a clear opportunity and any half chance saw their keeper make good saves. (HE MUST HAVE HAD SOME TOP COACHING). With us pushing forward searching for another goal we were nearly caught out with a quick counter attack, the long ball over the top saw their forward latch onto the ball and off he went straight for goal only to be denied a shooting chance by a superbly timed tackle by Louis who took an arm in the face for his troubles. More pressure saw us with another corner again from the left and with 13 minutes gone Ben U swung the ball in, this time Issac heads the ball goalbound their keeper makes the save again but this time he fell over and dropped the ball over the line 2-0. The boys took drinks and listened to the instructions of their coaches and went out for the final 20 minutes ready and expecting to defend, well that wasn't the case, with the wind in their faces and going uphill we played some of our best football away from home this season, restricting the home team to long range efforts. We added 2 more goals in this period with the first coming from some fine play down the right, 6 players combined with one two's, little flicks and a thunderous shot into the back of the net from Luke. The second goal of the period and our forth again came from excellent build up play where Ryan found himself unmarked to smash the ball home.
Overall this was an excellent team performance with a few individuals standing tall. Man of the Match could have gone to a number of players but it was decided that John Martin would get the accolade this week.
WELL DONE ALL.
